US State Word Searches

Each of these puzzles is about one state and nothing else. The word list is that state's own vocabulary — its capital, its nickname, the largest cities, the rivers and the mountain ranges, the state bird and the state flower — so working through one is nearer to a geography lesson than to a general word hunt.

Thirty are gathered here, alphabetically from Alaska to New York. That is not all fifty, and the page does not pretend otherwise: the later letters are filed in the Geography topic rather than pinned to this page, and two states, Alabama and New Jersey, have no puzzle of their own yet.

Every one of the thirty is in the hard tier, which for a state page is rather the point. Words read in all eight directions on grids from 15×15 up to 27×27, and the lists are long — Hawaii and New York hide forty words each, California thirty-seven. Print one with its answer key if you would rather check the last three than hunt them.
