Easy Word Searches

Every puzzle gathered here sits at the gentle end of the catalogue: a grid of 13×13 or smaller carrying a word list of sixteen entries or fewer, drawn from every topic on the site. Nothing on this page is one of the site's hard puzzles.

That is what makes them easy. A 12×12 grid holds 144 letters where a 20×20 holds 400, so there are far fewer places for a word to hide, and a list of a dozen words is a five-minute sit-down rather than an afternoon. Words can still run in any of the eight directions, backwards and diagonally included — the search is smaller, not softer, which is what keeps them worth solving.

A good place to start if a word search is new, if the time is short, or if finishing one puzzle appeals more than beginning a long one. Play in the browser, where a found word locks into place and crosses itself off the list, or print it and use a pencil.
